Hello, I'm Penny!

I love meeting new people and living in this multicultural environment, so I'm looking forward to welcoming you to Luxembourg and sharing my local knowledge with you. I am a seasoned British expatriate born in Singapore, where my family were based, and I have spent most of my life living overseas, in the Middle East, Asia, Central America and Europe, before deciding to settle in Luxembourg, 28 years ago. Due to my own numerous re-locations, I have first-hand experience of how it feels to be a new arrival in a foreign country. I am familiar with all aspects of life here from housing to education, healthcare, expat organisations, etc. and I really enjoy assisting newcomers settle into this vibrant, multicultural, multilingual country, in the very heart of Europe. I previously relocated with my family every three years and then I joined the British Diplomatic Service to continue travelling the world. Since settling in Luxembourg in 1987, I have moved home 4 times, so I have good knowledge of the real estate market here. After leaving the Diplomatic Service, I worked in corporate law and private banking before joining the Consular Section of the British Embassy in Luxembourg. As British Pro Consul, I advised new arrivals, and longer term residents on many aspects of life here, like how to obtain a driving license, or find an English speaking doctor. I also issued legal documents as required by the Luxembourg authorities and have a good knowledge of the administrative system here. I also belong to several expatriate social networking and professional groups, and keep up to date with the latest developments on the Luxembourg social/cultural and business scene. I speak English, French, Spanish and basic Luxemburgish and I can act as an interpreter or help with the translation of documents in these languages. I also give English language lessons to foreigners on a one to one basis.
